Awareness campaigns during summer camps for children, street clean up, sidewalk railing installation, public garden rehabilitation, provision of solid waste containers, training on water management skills. The Israeli incursions into Bait Hanoun municipality caused extensive destruction to infrastructure and agricultural assets. This destruction resulted in the accumulation of large piles of rubble / debris all over Beit Hanoun, which result in real and potential public health hazards and damages to the environment of the community. The streets of the town onwhich piles of debris accumulated lost their protective railings and their trees. The fences of the small gardens around the town, which were the only public green spaces in Beit Hanoun, were destroyed along with their trees. The shortage of solid waste containers resulted in the random disposal of solid waste in the street or on top of the piles of rubble and other debris. The debris itself is a physical hazard as well as creating a significant increase in the levels of dust in the community. The local clinic (Shohada Beit Hanoun) statistics note that about 1,380 children and 650 adults have visited the clinic suffering from chest infections between May 2003 and September 2003 as a result of the dusty environment caused by the debris piles. The police department has emphasized the need for sidewalk railings especially near the schools to protect the pupils from the risk of accidents. The project addressed the following immediate needs to clean up Beit Hanoun streets:

? Rubble Removal
? Sidewalk railings construction
? Curbstones repainting
? Distribution of solid waste containers
? Tree planting along the streets and in the gardens (near the municipality) The project addresses these needs in four areas of Beit Hanun:

? Khalil el-Wazeer Street.
? El-Sika Street
?The city center
? El-Izba neighborhood Project Objectives:

1. Reduce public health risks to citizens through removing 10,400 m3 of construction debris/ rubble.
2. Increase the safety of children and elderly on the roads by constructing 2,000 meters of sidewalk railings and repainting 4,000 meters of curbstones.
3. Improve the aesthetic environment by repainting 7,000 m2 of walls, planting of 150 trees and by rehabilitating the 2 small gardens around the municipality. Improve household income for 62 households through creating 3,224 working days for the skilled and unskilled labors of the northern area.
